A rubber band is a loop of rubber, usually ring or oval shaped, and commonly used to hold multiple objects together. The rubber band was patented in England on March 17, 1845, by Stephen Perry. Most rubber bands are manufactured out of natural rubber as well as for latex free rubber bands or, especially at larger sizes, an elastomer, and are sold in a variety of sizes.

പ്രകൃതിദത്തമായതോ കൃത്രിമമായതോ ആയ ഒരു ഇലാസ്തിക വസ്തുവിനാൽ നിർമ്മിക്കപ്പെട്ട വളയമാണ് റബർ ബാൻഡ്. ഒന്നിലെറെ വസ്തുക്കളെ റബർ ബാൻഡ് ഉപയോഗിച്ച് ചേർത്തു വയ്ക്കാം. 1843-ൽ തോമസ് ഹാൻകുക്കാണ് റബർ ബാൻഡ് ആദ്യമായി നിർമിച്ചത്. ഇവ വൾക്കനൈസ് ചെയ്യാതെയാണ് ഉപയോഗിച്ചിരുന്നത്. 1845-ൽ തോമസ് പെറി റബർ ബാൻഡിന് കുത്തകാവകാശം (Patent) നേടി. ആദ്യകാല റബർ ബാൻഡുകൾ ഉണങ്ങിയ റബറിൽ നിന്നാണ് നിർമിച്ചിരുന്നത്.
